John Lennon - December 8, 1980

John Lennon will forever be remembered for co-founding the legendary band, The Beatles. When they went on their own ways back in the 1970s, Lennon started making money as a solo artist and also sang with his wife, Yoko Ono, a lot. Lennon was 40 years old when he was assassinated back in December 1980. The photo above was actually taken just hours before the unexpected incident happened. Mark David Chapman was the criminal behind the assassination and Lennon actually signed Chapman's copy of Double Fantasy before he committed the crime. It was Chapman's tenth time to be denied parole back in August 2018.

Chris Cornell - May 17, 2017

Rockstar Chris Cornell is best known for being the frontman of Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, and Soundgarden. The photo above was actually taken during the May 17, 2017 performance Cornell and Soundgarden had at the Fox Theatre. Cornell was later found lifeless in his hotel in Detroit just fifteen minutes past midnight. Cornell decided to take his own life by hanging himself. His decision to end his life was probably connected to his life-long battle with depression. The last single Cornell got to work on was the song called The Promise.

Joan Rivers - August 27, 2014

Joan Rivers was a very talented comedian and host who said goodbye to us back in 2014. Rivers had a minor throat procedure done, but she later suffered a medically-induced coma. The doctors who were behind Rivers' procedure were later sued by Melissa Rivers. A settlement was reached in 2016, but details about the amount remain private. The photo above was taken on August 27, 2014, during Rivers' last comedic performance. A guy named Shade Rupe ran into Rivers and asked for a photo. Rivers' book, Diary of a Mad Diva, made her posthumously bag the Best Spoken Word Album Award at the 2015 Grammy Awards.

Another famous name who sadly decided to end his own life is Chester Bennington. Most of you know Bennington for being Linkin Park's frontman. Bennington was only 41 years old when he passed away back on July 20, 2017. The photo above was taken days before his suicide. And if you look at his smile, you wouldn't really expect that he was capable of ending his own life. There was a time that Bennington had some serious vices, but he was able to overcome it. He has a posthumous collaboration with Mark Morton titled Cross Off, which was released in January 2019.

Cass Elliott, who a lot of you know as Mama Cass, rose to fame for being part of The Mamas & The Papas. Mama Cass later established herself as a solo artist once her group broke up. Mama Cass' heart problem was the main cause of her death back in 1974. Although, some of you might have heard some rumors saying that her death was due to choking on a ham sandwich. The photo above was taken during Mama Cass' guesting on The Mike Douglas Show, which was her last public appearance. Her last album was Don't Call Me Mama Anymore.

Babe Ruth - July 29, 1948

Babe Ruth was a popular baseball player who enjoyed a fruitful career with the New York Yankees. He also was part of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Braves at one point. Ruth won the World Series seven times and is a two-time All-Star. Esophageal cancer made Ruth very sick back in 1946 and this eventually became the cause of his death back in August 1948. The photo above was taken just days before he passed away. Ruth was talking to Steve Broidy about some things he wanted his fortune to go to. Ruth received the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously back in 2018.

Activist and minister Martin Luther King Jr. is the iconic man who led the civil rights movement back in the 1950s. Unfortunately, he was assassinated back in 1968 at 39 years old. The photo above was taken just a day before the assassination happened. King is seen on the Lorraine Motel's balcony, which was also about the same area he got assassinated in. The guy who shot him was a criminal named James Earl Ray. Ray died back in 1998 due to Hepatitis C that led to liver failure and kidney disease.

Robin Williams - August 10, 2014

Robin Williams looked like such a happy man. But what many people didn't know was that Williams actually had a tough battle with diffuse Lewy body dementia, and this sadly got the best of him. Williams decided to commit suicide back in 2014 at the age of 63. His wife, Susan Schneider, later said that something that may have contributed to his decision of ending his own life was his battle with Lewy body disease. The photo above was taken a day before Williams' suicide when he went to an art gallery with his wife. Williams' last acting role was in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.

Garry Shandling - March 19, 2016

Comedian Garry Shandling is best remembered for being the man behind The Larry Sanders Show and Its Garry Shandling's Show. Shandling had a serious condition called hyperparathyroidism. In 2016, a pulmonary embolism placed an end to his life at the age of 66. The photo above was taken just days before Shandling's death. He had a casual photo-op with friends Bob Odenkirk and Kathy Griffin. Even if Shandling is not here anymore, his legacy still lives on. Around $15.2 million was donated to UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine in February 2019 and it apparently came from the estate Shandling left behind.

Freddie Mercury - Spring 1991

A lot of you might be very familiar with who Freddie Mercury is because of his recent biopic titled Bohemian Rhapsody. The movie wasn't 100% accurate, but it gave people an idea of how talented Mercury was. Mercury, who was the frontman of Queen, was 45 years old when he passed away back in 1991 due to AIDS complications. The photo of Freddie above was taken during Spring of 1991. His partner, Jim Hutton, reportedly took the photo. Freddie was posing in his Kensington estate. Rami Malek played Freddie in the biopic and his performance won him the Best Actor Award during the 2019 Oscars.

Lucille Ball is a very notable name in the comedy scene and she is best known for starring in sitcoms like Here's Lucy, The Lucy Show, and I Love Lucy. Ball passed away back in April 1989 due to an abdominal aortic dissection. The photo above was during the Academy Awards that happened just about a month before she passed away. Nobody expected Ball to leave our world so soon since she looked amazing in her fashion choices that night. Ball's final acting role was in Life with Lucy back in 1986.

James Dean was such a heartthrob in Hollywood back in the 1950s. Some of his most popular performances were in movies like Giant, Rebel Without a Cause, and East of Eden. Sadly, he had a very unexpected death back in 1955 when he was involved in a fatal car accident. Photographed above is Dean posing next to his Porsche 550 Spyder just before the accident happened. Dean was only 24 years old when he passed away. After his death, the movie titled The Giant was released and Dean's performance got him nominated for the Best Actor award at the Academy Awards.

David Bowie entered the music scene back in the 1960s and he eventually got to branch out into acting as well. Bowie passed away back in January 2016 due to liver cancer. His death actually happened just two days after he turned 69 years old. He also just released a new album titled Black Star. Bowie has apparently been sick since 2014 but he never revealed any details to the public. Jim Morrison - June 1971

Most of you remember Jim Morrison for being the frontman of The Doors. Morrison was only 27 years old when his life came to an end back in July 1971. They said heart failure was the cause of his death, but this isn't reliable since they didn't perform an autopsy. His death remains a mystery to this day. The Doors continued making music after Morrison's death, but their earnings weren't as high anymore so they just went on their own ways. The photo above was taken when Morrison was with his girlfriend in Paris, about a month before his death.

Elvis Presley is one of the biggest icons in the music scene. Presley was basically known as the King of Rock and Roll and he truly made sure that his music was very different from the rest. Presley sadly passed away back in August 1977 and the cause of his death was reportedly a heart attack. He was known for having a serious prescription drug problem over the years. The last photo taken of him was actually on the day he died. It was taken when he just got home to his Graceland estate past midnight. He was driving a 1973 Stutz Blackhawk III. Presley's last album was 1977's Moody Blue.

Jimi Hendrix - September 17, 1970

Another music icon who bid farewell too soon was Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix managed to become so influential despite only having four years of mainstream success. Hendrix passed away back in September 1970 at the age of 27. His cause of death was later revealed to be a barbiturate overdose. The photos above were taken a day before Hendrix's death when he and his girlfriend, Monika Danneman, were at the Samarkand Hotel. It was Danneman who found Hendrix unconscious the next day. And despite bringing Hendrix to the hospital, everything was already too late. Hendrix's last album was First Rays of the New Rising Sun which was posthumously released in 1997.

Andy Kaufman - January 1984

Andy Kaufman was a very funny guy who wanted to be referred to as an entertainer rather than a comedian. He is most known for his appearances in Saturday Night Live, Late Night with David Letterman, and Taxi. Back in 1984, Kaufman passed away due to lung cancer. Kaufman always made jokes and some people actually believed that his death was just another orchestrated prank. His last TV appearance was in The Top. A fan of Kaufman, named Michael Dare, was actually the guy who took the photo above which is the last photo of Kaufman before his death.

Marilyn Monroe - July 13, 1962

Marilyn Monroe was one of the biggest stars of the 1950s. She had numerous iconic roles and a lot of women looked up to her. Despite all the money she made, Monroe got lost in numerous vices and had a really wild lifestyle. She passed away back in 1962 after she overdosed on barbiturates. Sources say Monroe intended to take her own life, but there are a lot of conspiracy theories that beg to differ. The photo above, which is Monroe's last public photo, was taken back in July 1962 by George Barris. Monroe's last movie role was in The Misfits.

Amelia Earhart - May 21, 1937

Amelia Earhart is the legendary woman who was the first female aviator who had a solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean. She also found success as an author and was an advisor at Purdue University. Earhart disappeared back in July 1937 after she attempted to circumnavigate the world. Her death always remained to be a mystery and what really happened to her remains unknown to this day. The last photo of her, which you can see above, was taken less than two weeks before she disappeared. A biopic about Earhart's life titled Amelia was released back in 2009.

Actor Bill Paxton is best known for the roles he had in Hatfields & McCoys, Big Love, and The Terminator. Paxton grew up with serious heart problems, but he was still able to have such a fruitful career. Paxton sadly passed away back in 2017 after the cardiac surgery he was undergoing led to a life-ending stroke. Photographed above was him during 2017 NAACP Awards which was his last public appearance. Paxton's last role was in The Circle, which was released two months after he passed away. Paxton was 61 years old at the time of his death.

Canadian singer Leonard Cohen is part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Cohen established himself as a singer in the late 1960s. But prior to this, he was a novelist and poet. Cohen passed away in his sleep back in November 2016 and it is believed that this was connected to his leukemia. Cohen's last album called You Want It Darker was released back in 2016. The photo above was taken just a month before his death when he had an album listening session at the Canadian consulate.

Steve Irwin, who a lot of you remember as the Crocodile Hunter, is best known for starring in the Crocodile Hunter series. Other shows he is known for are New Breed Vets, Croc Files, and The Crocodile Hunter Diaries. Irwin had an unexpected death back in September 2006 when a stingray pierced his heart. This happened when he was filming for the Ocean's Deadliest documentary. The photo above was taken on the day his tragic death happened. Even if he had been long gone, his portfolio continues to grow thanks to archived footage. Since 2018, he and his family have been starring in Crikey! It's the Irwins.

If you are a fan of Star Wars, then you surely know who Carrie Fisher is because she was the beautiful actress who portrayed the role Princes Leia in the franchise. Fisher was 60 years old back in 2016 when atherosclerosis and sleep apnea reportedly ended her life. Fisher apparently also had drugs in her system at the time of her death. The photo you see above was the selfie she took with a British fan just days before she passed away. Her mother, Debbie Reynolds, died a day after her daughter's death due to a stroke.

Whitney Houston was a very popular singer who had such a unique and amazing voice. Her fruitful career in the industry made her a very wealthy woman. Houston's life came to an end back in 2012 when she reportedly drowned in a hotel bathtub she was in. Reports later said that her vices and heart disease could have led to her accidental death. As you can see in the photo above, Houston was partying two days prior to her death at California's Tru Club. A documentary film about Houston's life titled Whitney was released back in 2018.

John F. Kennedy a.k.a. JFK became the President of the United States of America back in 1961. His presidential term was later cut short in 1963 after he was assassinated. Lee Harvey Oswald was the Marxist who did the crime, but he never reached court because he was later shot by a Texas club owner named Jack Ruby. The photo you see of JFK above was taken just minutes before he was shot by Oswald. As of today, JFK is known for being the only former United States President who was Catholic.

Diana, Princess of Wales - August 31, 1997

Diana Spencer became known as the Princess of Wales when she tied the knot with Prince Charles back in 1981. Their marriage was far from perfect and they eventually got a divorce in 1996. Diana died a year later after she got into a traffic automobile accident. The photo above was taken as she was about to go on her fatal journey. Seen with her in the photo is her driver Henri Paul, her bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, and her companion Dodi Fayed. Only her bodyguard survived the accident. Diana's funeral, which was televised, attracted over 32 million viewers.

Michael Jackson is such a big name in the music scene and many of you actually refer to him as the King of Pop. Jackson passed away back in 2009 after being intoxicated on benzodiazepine and propofol which led to a fatal cardiac arrest. Jackson was declared dead after a little over an hour in the hospital. He was preparing for a concert residency called This Is It during the days before his death. The photo you see above was during the June 23 rehearsal for the show. In 2019, a documentary titled Leaving Neverland was released and it's about Jackson's alleged child abuse.

Paul Walker - November 30, 2013

An actor with one of the most unexpected deaths ever was Paul Walker. Walker had a tragic automobile accident back in November 2013 which led to his life coming to an end at the age of 40. Walker just left an event his charity organized when the accident happened. As you can see in the photo above, which was taken when Walker was leaving the event, he wasn't in the driver' seat. Businessman Roger Rodas was driving and he too died in the accident. Two years later, Walker posthumously appeared in Furious 7.

Kurt Cobain - December 1993

Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain truly proved to many people that he was such a talented man. He and Nirvana became very popular during the early 1990s. Sadly, Cobain had a serious drug addiction and was also depressed. Cobain decided to take his own life back in April 1994 at the young age of 27. He had a photo shoot with Nirvana five months before his death and the photo above was taken during that shoot. Back in 2015, an album which contained Cobain's home recordings was posthumously released. It was titled Montage of Heck: The Home Recordings.

Alan Rickman - December 7, 2015

Alan Rickman is the actor who gave life to the role of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies. His other memorable performances were in movies like Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny, and Something the Lord Made. Back in 2015, Rickman discovered he had pancreatic cancer. Only those closest to him knew it was a terminal illness already. He eventually died in January 2016. Photographed above is Rickman when he watched Hangmen at the London theater back in December 2015. His final project was his voice role in Alice Through the Looking Glass.
