Kylie Jenner has a lot of supportive fans. Hey, she wouldn't have her billion-dollar cosmetic empire without them, right? But it seems like the young star isn't immune to criticism as she received backlash after releasing a promotional video for her new line of skincare products, Kylie Skin.

The Proper Way

Jenner posted a short clip of her washing her face 'incorrectly' using her products

The 21-year-old influencer was only attempting to show her millions of followers how her new product, Kylie Skin Foaming Face Wash, works when she was bombarded with tweets. All of them have seemingly one thing to say: "You're washing your face wrong!".

In her video, Jenner only washed her face for 10 seconds, which is apparently not enough time to get dirt and makeup residue off the skin. Looking at the comments on her video, it looks like people agree that the proper time to spend on cleansing is at least 30 seconds to a full minute.

And dermatologist, Dr. Howard Sobel of New York City's Sobel Skin sort of agrees.  Commenting on Jenner's technique, Sobel said that she didn't put enough time on cleansing, missed important areas and was even a bit too harsh on her skin. A good session should be at least 30 seconds morning or night, according to the doctor. This could go up to a minute if exfoliating is also involved.

More Advice For Kylie

Sobel recommends that the makeup mogul be gentler with her skin and use circular motions when washing the face

Aside from this, Sobel also suggests everyone use a two-step method when cleansing the face after a long day. Starting with an oil-based cleanser is a great way to get rid of deep-seated dirt or makeup on the skin.

Because of this cleanser's formula, it is effective in dissolving makeup and works on almost all skin types. After this, one can proceed with a regular water-based cleanser like the Kylie Skin Foaming Face Wash for good measure.

Going to bed with a completely clean and prepped face will help people avoid getting pimples. It also makes for the perfect canvas to begin your skincare routine no matter how many steps it may have.

This method of cleansing the face twice was popularized by Asian skincare brands. Known as double cleansing, the method traces its roots from the practices of 14th-century Japanese and Korean women who sought a way to remove the thick white makeup they wore.

Kylie Skin

Jenner's skincare line currently offers six products which can be bought as a bundle

This backlash isn't really a welcome reception to Jenner's newly launched products. Still, it seems like the scuffle didn't slow down sales at all as the Kylie Skin products reportedly sold out from the website within only six minutes. The same thing happened during her previous product launches for her makeup brand Kylie Cosmetics.

The star assures fans thought that the products will soon be restocked within the coming week. The Kylie Skin set is sold at $125 a pop and comes with products like cleansers, exfoliants and moisturizers.
