The British royal family has long been the focus of the mainstream media's attention, their every move is monitored and reported upon. But that doesn't mean that other royal families can get away with questionable behavior unnoticed.

Back in 2015, members of the Romanian royal family made headlines when former King Michael I of Romania announced the abrogation of his grandson's prince title and place on the throne's succession. The king reportedly came to this decision after considering the former prince's moral principles.

However, recent revelations from Nicholas Medforth-Mills, formerly known as Prince Nicholas of Romania, tell a different story.

Secret Daughter

Years after denying the rumors that he has a daughter, Medforth-Mills finally verified these speculations to be true. The 34-year-old made the admission in a Facebook post where he also said that the announcement came after a paternity test was administered.

The former prince then said that he plans on fulfilling his legal responsibilities to his now three-year-old daughter. He also informed the public that he intends to keep the child's life private for her best interests. What more, the former prince said that he will no longer comment on the matter to prevent further media attention.

Medforth-Mills' latest announcement seems to confirm American researcher and author Marlene A. Eilers Koenig's initial speculations that an illegitimate child was the cause of the revocation of his royal title. The child, Iris Anna, was born in early 2016 but was not recognized by Medforth-Mills at the time.

Removal From Succession

At the time of his removal from the succession, Medforth-Mills was third in line to inherit the symbolic Romanian throne. While the royal family no longer has official political power over the country, members of the royal family still hold some cultural significance and attract public interest.

Medforth-Mills didn't counter his grandfather's decision and even released a statement to accept the abrogation of his title as prince. The title was actually only reinstated in 2007 when a family statute was enacted. It's important to note though that this act does not have standing in the country's current laws.

The royal family last held power in 1947 when then King Michael I abdicated the throne and Romania became a republic.

Current Life

Two years after the loss of his royal title, the former prince got engaged to girlfriend Alina Maria Binder in July of 2017. They then got married a few months later in a civil ceremony in October.

The couple then married once again, this time in a religious ceremony a year later in September 2018 at the Saint Elijah Church in the Romanian mountain resort of Sinaia.

As seen on his official Facebook page, Medforth-Mills remains to be a public figure in his home country and regularly attends events with his wife.
